August fun

August 4th, 2008

Hi all,

You may remember me telling you about my friend Scooby and that she loves chasing rabbits (She just can’t help it. She spent the first 18 months of her life in kennels!)… well, here we are flushing them out. Scooby bounces as if she has springs on her legs and we manage to flush several rabbits out of the field … Mum and Mel get quite excited, hehe.

Have fun this August!

Lazy Saturday

July 26th, 2008

It’s another scorcher today and it was me and Mum on our own at the river this morning. We were trundling along and I was sniffing about when I came across a really interesting smell. Even though we rarely see anybody on this walk there must be other people and dogs coming here because I found a ball!

We kicked it about a bit and eventually Mum put it in her pouch to bring home. She took loads of photos of flowers (Mum “mostly weeds, but they are pretty at this time of year”)

and I waited patiently for her to move on.

I kept dipping in the river and in one place we saw these.

We think they are river trout. On the way back to the car I kept checking that the ball was still safely in Mum’s pouch and back at home I kept it close by me … just in case.

We’re quite excited because we’re expecting a visitor this afternoon - Martin is coming to stay with us for a few days before he continues his Scotland trip. He said he’s looking forward to doing walks with me :) .

Bye for now.

Earth Dog

July 23rd, 2008

Hi!

It’s really hot today. Scooby called for me this morning and we had a pretty good walk by the river. I kept going in the river a lot to have a paddle and cool down so when we arrived back home I was still very wet. Mum decided not to dry me down so I stay nice and cool. And then I did the only thing a ‘Terra’ dog likes to do on a hot day …

Aaaah, that’s nice.

Here is a close up of my beard.

The garden is getting a bit of a revamp at the moment but I have been assured the mud feature will stay - Yeah!

Freddy says “Don’t forget to cover up in this heat!”

The Lakes

July 20th, 2008

This evening Mum, Dad and me finally remembered to take the camera to the lakes with us. So this is the very sandy path … nice to do a lot of scratching and occasionally digging in.

This leads us past a couple of lakes into the area for water sports, though today it was pretty quiet.

From here we trek along the shore through the long grass.

Mum is a right ’slowcoach’ because she keeps on stopping and taking pictures of pretty flowers.

And Lakes … and birds and stuff.

Quite a lot of the lakes are securely fenced in so the birds can breed in peace.

… which is good because it means I can’t get into trouble chasing them (Molly :) ).

Come on, Mum! Let’s go! The willow plantation is just around the corner …

I really love this bit, it’s full of wildlife. And just after this photo was taken a hare jumped out in front of me and I just had to chase it……..

…………………………………………………………………………………………………..

………………………………………………………….

Right, I’m back! Didn’t catch it but the chase was glorious fun.

We walk right round the willows which has another smaller lake within it.

Then it’s off through the hedge and into the woods…

… at the shore of - you guessed it - yet another lake. Very refreshing, I’m making the ripples, ha ha.

This lake has a swan family with eight cygnets on it.

By now we’re almost back at the beginning again. It’s a great area to walk with humans and if you ever happen to come our way we’d love to take you round here!

Bye for now.

PS. How do you like my new beard dip? Trouble is when it’s ‘on’ Mum keeps having to dash to the loo.

Cool new software

July 14th, 2008

Hi all,

We just wanted to show you this cool new software we’re trying out. It’s from www.ript.com

You can create all sorts of great scrapbook-like things with this. And it’s free! Mum made the one above and has it as her desktop background.

OK … but it COULD have been a crocodile …

July 10th, 2008

I think I must have been good lately because after some really heavy showers yesterday we had glorious sunshine this morning on our walk; bit windy though!

We did our usual tour with a slight exception, Mum asked me to turn left at the end instead of right - Hmmm, that’s new!

We’re scouting out new walks again - always along Public Footpaths as far as possible. This one leads through a farm yard and past a field with these fellas in it.

They were friendly enough and we moved on along the path. I got so interested in a patch of juicy grass that I didn’t notice Mum had gone quite some way ahead. So I had to run to catch up. She had already walked past that puddle …

I already felt a little bit jumpy because of the noise the tarpaulin on the farm yard had made flapping around in the wind, and I really didn’t know what to make of that lump of concrete … it COULD have been a crocodile!!!!! You just never know!

On the way back Ruby was waiting for us in the corner of her field

and I had a chat with her.

Then me and Mum met Brenda our new friend. She was pushing a wheel barrow and leading her horse at the same time. Brenda said she’d like to take me home … I was very tempted - guys, her wheel barrow was full of fresh horse dooh!

Bye for now.

Happy 10th Birthday Maggie!

July 9th, 2008

It’s Maggie’s 10th birthday today! Woohoo! Happy Birthday Maggie. We hope you have a fabulous day and lots of pizza and ice cream!

We’ve had a lovely surprise at the weekend, my hooman bro’ Tim (my Hypno buddy!) came to stay for the weekend. He moved a long way away in May to work for a very prestigious company you see, but he says he misses me and has to come and see me every so often and get his dose of being ‘Finnied’ :)

Anyway on the Sunday we all watched the racing …

… because it seems that he now works for the winning team!

Scooby and I now regularly take long walks together. Scooby is a rescue girl. She loves, loves, loves chasing rabbits and today I showed her that there are loads in the wheat field. Hehe, we were both bouncing through, pity mum couldn’t get the camera out quick enough.

On the way back home I introduced her to my friend Ruby.

Ruby is one year old and not afraid of anything. Me and Scooby were very good …

… sitting and being nice and friendly …

… because Mel brought some chicken! … and I love Mel/chicken.

And I think she loves me too, even though I made muddy pawprints all over her. Ooooops!

Bye for now.

Beautiful Summers Day

July 4th, 2008

Scouting

What a lovely day! I like to scout a little ahead on my walks. And to cool me down I take a little dip in the river.

RiverDip

Mum finally remembered to take the camera on one of our last walks and she managed to get a picture of my friend Martha.

Finni and Martha

Here we are all meeting up - me, Martha and Scooby

Meeting up in the fields

We all get on really well.

Amelie is nearly 9 months old now and is crawling! She is fast!!! She comes to our house once a week and we play.

Amelie and Finni

We like the same toys … but I’m not allowed her dummy. This strangely makes it into the most interesting object in the house … sigh.

Looking at toys

It’s all turned out ok, but I was worried not so long ago, because I thought …

Amelie and Bandit

… She eats dogs!

Bye for now.

Lovely Walks and Puppetshows

June 27th, 2008

Hi all,

I’ve just realized June is nearly over and I haven’t blogged!

Still guarding

Well, I’m still guarding but Mum & Dad say the house will be finished this week. Whilst Mum and Dad have been doing that I have made myself useful checking for rabbits…

Rabbit check

… and not just at home. I have been on Rabbit patrol whilst out in the fields as well!

Rabbit patrol

Sometimes we meet up with my friend Snoopy. That is always fun, and we play and play.

Snoopy

Just lately we have been making a new friend … Scooby

Scooby

She is great fun too. She is a German Shepherd / Doberman cross and has lots of energy. We meet up once a week now.

One day Dad decided to do some gardening. He started to cut the hedge in my puppy garden, but I think he got a bit carried away.

Hedge cutting

This is what it’s supposed to look like Dad!

Weigelia

You know, just a little light trim. Hehe. I think they’ve got plans …

Anyway, the other thing we’ve been doing a fair bit of was playing with my favourite toy … elk.

Elk

When Dad puts his hand in there elk comes alive and we wrassle like this …

I just love the noises Dad makes when we play!!!

As you can see I’m a woolly mammoth again, but I’m booked in for an ‘Airecut’ next Wednesday. Thank goodness. I’m getting hot on my walks and have to find puddles to lie down in.

Oh yeah … Hi Sally and Rufus and Saint Lover. Thanks for coming by my blog! Hope it’s ok to link to you guys! Thanks everybody who has voted for me at the Bone Zone. It was fun.

Bye for now.

Bone Zone

May 26th, 2008

Hi all,

We haven’t blogged for a while because Mum is really busy refurbishing a little house. She comes home every day covered in paint and says “Nearly there! Just the living room/hallway/kitchen … to do” It is my job to guard our house whilst she’s gone.

It’s not such a hard life …

Guarding

I am very excited. Someone has nominated one of my posts for ‘Post of the Month’ for May on the Bone Zone. It’s the one where I’m jamming with Maffu. Voting is until the 31 May. If you get a chance have a look and check it out … and maybe vote for me!?

Hope you all have nice walks!
